Your Guide to Enrollment, Training, Clinicals & Certification
Welcome to the DMS CNA Program!
Congratulations on taking the next step toward becoming a Certified Nurse Aide.
Please review this orientation carefully. It explains what happens after your application, how to begin your coursework, your skills and clinical requirements, CPR certification, graduation requirements, and exam scheduling.
Begin Your CNA Coursework
DMS Care Training Website: www.dmscare.org
After your background check is approved and tuition has been paid, log in to the DMS Care Training website and go to My Courses.
You may begin your online coursework as soon as your tuition payment is completed and your course is available in My Courses.
Your CNA Textbook
Your CNA textbook is part of your course study materials.
- School Pickup: Most CNA students pick up their textbook directly from DMS Care Training Center.
- Shipping: If needed, your textbook may also be shipped to you.

Attend Your 2-Day Skills Training
CNA students attend 2 days of in-person skills training at DMS Care Training Center.
During skills training, you will learn and practice 22 basic care skills that are important for CNA training and your skills exam.
Complete Your Nursing Home Clinicals
After completing the required classroom and skills preparation, CNA students attend 5 days of nursing home clinical training.
Clinical training gives you the opportunity to apply your CNA knowledge and skills in a real patient-care environment. Attendance is required for all assigned clinical days.
Complete AHA BLS (CPR)
A current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification is required for graduation from the CNA program.
- Register for the AHA BLS course through DMS Care Training.
- Complete the required online portion.
- Attend the in-person CPR hands-on session.
CNA Graduation Requirements
Before completing the CNA program, make sure you have completed all required items below.
- 60 hours of self-paced online study with course materials and textbook
- 2 days of in-person CNA skills training
- 40 hours / 5 days of required nursing home clinical training
- Required CNA coursework completed in My Courses
- Current AHA BLS (CPR) Certification
CNA Certification Exam
After completing your CNA program requirements, you will prepare for your certification exam.
The CNA certification exam includes two parts:
- Written / Knowledge Exam
- Skills Exam
Taking the exam while your coursework and skills practice are still fresh can help you stay prepared.
