Admission Requirements

DMS Care Training Center offers multiple healthcare career training programs with different admission pathways. Because program regulations and certification requirements vary, students should review the requirements carefully before applying.

Two Admission Tracks: Texas CNA Program / NHA Certification Programs
Important Note: Admission, document review, clinical eligibility, and payment timing may vary by program
Application Status: An application is considered complete only after required forms, documents, and registration fee are submitted
Students are encouraged to review the applicable section below before submitting an application.

General Admissions Overview

DMS Care Training Center provides career-focused healthcare training for students seeking entry into clinical, administrative, and direct patient care roles. Admission requirements differ depending on whether the student is applying to the Texas CNA program or to an NHA-based certification program.

The CNA program includes state-regulated training and clinical eligibility requirements. NHA certification programs follow a separate academic and enrollment process based on school policy, certification eligibility, and program completion standards.

CNA Program Admission Requirements

The Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) program is delivered in accordance with Texas training regulations and clinical training requirements. Because this program includes hands-on lab practice, clinical placement, and state exam preparation, applicants must meet all admission and eligibility standards before enrollment is finalized.

CNA admissions and training

Required Eligibility for CNA Applicants

  • Must meet the minimum age requirement established by school and program policy
  • Government-issued photo identification or passport is required
  • Social Security Number (SSN) is required when applicable for state and clinical documentation
  • High school diploma, transcript, or GED documentation may be required according to program standards
  • Students must be able to participate in classroom, lab, and clinical training activities safely and appropriately

Additional Admission Requirement for Applicants Without a High School Diploma

For the CNA program, a high school diploma or GED is not strictly required for admission. However, applicants who do not possess a high school diploma or equivalent must demonstrate basic English reading and comprehension ability.

After completing the Enrollment Agreement, submitting the application form, and paying the $50 application fee, the student will be required to take the DMS English Placement Assessment.

Applicants must achieve a minimum score of 80% on this assessment in order to proceed with the CNA training program. Students who do not meet the minimum score may be advised to improve their English skills before beginning the program.

Clinical and Compliance Requirements

  • Background review may be required before clinical placement is approved
  • Students must submit all required health or compliance records requested for clinical participation
  • Required immunization or screening records may include items such as TB, MMR, TDaP, Hepatitis B, or other site-specific requirements
  • AHA BLS (CPR) certification must be completed before graduation or by the deadline established by the school
  • Clinical scheduling is subject to site availability, approval, and completion of all required documentation

Important CNA Admission Policy

Submission of the application form alone does not guarantee enrollment. A CNA application is considered complete only after all required documents are submitted and the registration fee has been paid.

Because the CNA pathway includes regulated clinical training, students should not make assumptions about clinical clearance or state exam eligibility until their file has been reviewed by the school.

NHA Certification Program Admission Requirements

NHA healthcare training at DMS

NHA certification programs at DMS Care Training Center include career training pathways such as CCMA, PCT/PCA, CPT, CET, CMAA, CPhT, and related healthcare certification programs. These programs are designed to prepare students for national certification and entry-level employment opportunities in healthcare settings.

Required Eligibility for NHA Program Applicants

  • Applicants must meet the minimum age requirement for the selected program
  • Government-issued photo identification is required
  • High school diploma, transcript, or GED may be required depending on program and certification pathway
  • Students must be able to complete the academic and practical training requirements of the selected program
  • English-language certification exams may require functional reading comprehension, even when school support materials are available in another language

Program-Specific Notes

  • Hands-on requirements vary by program and may include injections, phlebotomy, EKG, EMR, laboratory practice, or patient care procedures
  • Some programs may require in-person lab attendance even if most coursework is online
  • AHA BLS (CPR) certification may be required before graduation depending on the program
  • Certification exam fees, registration fees, and certain external requirements may be charged separately unless otherwise stated by the school
  • Program completion does not automatically guarantee certification; students must also meet the exam eligibility requirements established by the certifying organization

Important NHA Program Admission Policy

An NHA program application is considered complete only after the student has submitted the required application materials and paid the registration fee.

Students should review each individual program page for additional skill requirements, attendance expectations, and certification details before enrolling.

Common Documents That May Be Requested

  • Government-issued photo identification
  • High school diploma, transcript, college transcript, or GED documentation
  • Social Security documentation when required
  • Immunization or clinical compliance documents for programs involving clinical training
  • Signed school forms or enrollment agreements as required by the program
