A Phlebotomy Technician is a healthcare professional responsible for collecting and managing blood specimens in hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, and blood donation centers. This program is designed to develop hands-on phlebotomy skills and prepare students for NHA CPT national certification.

Korean support: Korean summary study materials provided.
Online coursework and certification exams are conducted in English; Korean materials are provided to support learning comprehension.

Certification Exam

  • Six full-length practice exams provided
  • Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to take the NHA CPT (Certified Phlebotomy Technician) certification exam.
  • The NHA CPT exam evaluates the knowledge and skills needed for entry-level phlebotomy work, including patient identification, venipuncture, capillary puncture, specimen collection, specimen handling, infection control, safety standards, medical ethics, and professional communication.
  • The exam consists of 120 questions (100 scored questions and 20 pretest questions).
  • Students are given 2 hours to complete the examination.
  • A minimum scaled score of 390 out of 500 is required to pass.
  • Candidates who do not pass may retake the examination according to current NHA retake policies.

Admission Requirements (Summary)

  • Must be at least 18 years of age, or have parental/guardian consent if under 18
  • Government-issued photo identification or passport
  • High school diploma/GED, or current high school enrollment when eligible under the NHA provisional certification pathway
  • BLS (CPR) certification must be submitted prior to graduation
  • Students must pass a criminal background check

High School Students & NHA Provisional Certification

Effective October 1, 2026: current high school or GED students pursuing the CPT credential may be eligible to take the NHA certification exam before graduation and receive a provisional certification when their expected graduation/completion date is within 18 months of the date they pass the exam.

After graduation, NHA-accepted proof of graduation must be submitted to NHA to convert the provisional credential to full certification. All other NHA exam eligibility, training, and program requirements still apply. This may allow some students to begin training and test as early as 11th grade, depending on graduation date and program schedule.
