This program is designed to provide students with structured clinical training and practical skills required to work as a Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA). The course focuses on building real clinical competency and preparing students for the NHA CCMA certification.

One of the biggest advantages of this program is flexibility. Students can start anytime, complete most of the coursework online, and move through training in a way that works for their school, work, or family schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide basic patient care and assist with clinical procedures
  • Perform phlebotomy, injections, and electrocardiograms (EKG)
  • Observe patient conditions and organize test results
  • Enter data into Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and support administrative tasks
  • Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare providers

  • Total Program Hours: 400 hours
  • Length of Time: 30 weeks / approximately 6 months
  • Delivery Format: Hybrid program (online coursework + skills training + clinical externship)
  • Program Start: Open enrollment year-round
  • Online Coursework: 330 hours
  • Skills Training (School Lab & practice individually): 30 hours
  • Clinical Externship: 40 hours, assigned according to school-approved clinical sites
  • Recommended Study Pace: Approximately 80 hours per month (about 4 hours per day)

Tuition Information

  • Tuition includes textbooks, online coursework, and hands-on training.

  • Registration Fee $50 / AHA BLS (CPR) Certification $95 / Certification exam fee not included

Certification Exam
  • Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to take the NHA CCMA (Certified Clinical Medical Assistant) exam
  • Six full-length practice exams provided
  • The exam includes 180 questions (150 scored + 30 unscored) with a 3-hour time limit
  • A minimum scaled score of 78% is required to pass
  • Candidates can typically retake the exam after a 30-day waiting period, for up to 3 attempts

ACE Credit Opportunity

Students who pass the NHA CCMA exam may also have an added educational benefit. The CCMA certification may be eligible for college credit through ACE (American Council on Education). Transfer credit is always determined by the receiving institution.

Admission Requirements (Summary)
  • Must be at least 18 years of age, or have parental/guardian consent if under 18
  • Government-issued photo ID or passport
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent documentation
  • Current high school students may apply if they can submit their diploma within 1 year
  • BLS (CPR) certification must be submitted prior to graduation
