Certification Exam
- Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to take the NHA CEHRS (Certified Electronic Health Records Specialist) certification exam.
- Practice exams are provided for certification preparation.
- The exam evaluates electronic health records systems, documentation accuracy, patient data management, HIPAA compliance, healthcare workflow, and information security.
- This certification may support employment opportunities in hospitals, clinics, physician offices, and healthcare administrative departments.
Admission Requirements (Summary)
- Must be at least 18 years of age, or have parental/guardian consent if under 18
- Government-issued photo identification or passport
- High school diploma/GED, or current high school enrollment when eligible under the applicable NHA provisional certification pathway
- BLS (CPR) certification must be submitted prior to program completion

High School Students & NHA Provisional Certification
Effective October 1, 2026, current high school or GED students pursuing NHA CEHRS may be eligible to take the NHA certification exam before graduation when their expected graduation/completion date is within 18 months of the date they pass the exam.
After graduation, NHA-accepted proof of graduation must be submitted to NHA to convert the provisional credential to full certification. All other NHA exam eligibility, training, and hands-on requirements still apply, and NHA determines final exam eligibility.
